InnovateEducateTransform

Elite breeding science,
within everyone’s reach.

PlantNura brings the methods, software and expertise behind modern breeding programmes to scientists, students and institutions everywhere — taught live, built in-house and delivered alongside you.

Why we exist

The methods, tools and rigour behind the world’s most advanced breeding programmes should not be locked behind expensive licences, steep coding barriers or a handful of institutions. PlantNura exists to put them in every scientist’s hands.

Our vision

Crop science transformed by innovation, data science and knowledge, with the best of breeding within reach of every scientist, everywhere.

The vision is the world we are working towards. The mission is what we do every day to get there, in three words we put on everything we make.

Our mission

We innovate, educate and transform: we build the tools, teach the skills and redesign the programmes that move crop science forward.

  1. Innovate

Software and methods that make modern breeding analysis rigorous, fast and free of coding barriers — engineered in-house, from the statistics up.

  2. Educate

Genomic selection and data-driven breeding taught live and hands-on, theory first and then in R, so the skill stays with the person who learned it.

  3. Transform

Working alongside breeding programmes to redesign how they select, test and decide — and leaving each one able to run it without us.

The founder

Dr. Waseem Hussain

Founder & CEO · quantitative geneticist and plant breeder

At the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) he worked in the Rice Breeding Innovation Platform on the salinity, drought and flood-tolerance breeding programmes — measuring genetic gain, leading genomic selection work and building predictions from years of historical trial data — and taught the course Fundamentals of Genomic Prediction.

Before IRRI, his postdoc in the Department of Animal Science at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln gave him a strong grounding in quantitative genetics. There he built his first Shiny application, ShinyAIM, when R Shiny was still new — and learned HTML, CSS, LaTeX and much more along the way.

PlantNura is the next step: the same methods, turned into live courses, no-code software and consultancy that any breeding programme can use.

How we got here

From one app to a full stack.

A research tool that other people could use, breeding programmes at scale, and then a company built to make both available to everyone.

  1. A Manhattan plot with one peak above the significance threshold
    01 · Nebraska

    The first tool.

Postdoctoral research in quantitative genetics at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln — and ShinyAIM, an R Shiny app for interactive Manhattan plots in longitudinal GWAS, published in Plant Direct in 2018. Research, made usable by other people.

  2. Genetic gain over breeding cycles under three schemes
    02 · IRRI

    Breeding at scale.

The Rice Breeding Innovation Platform: salinity, drought and flood-tolerance programmes, genetic gain measured across them, predictions built on 17 years of historical data, an open-source pipeline for breeding-data analysis, and the course Fundamentals of Genomic Prediction.

  3. Interns and mentor around the table reviewing a result together
    03 · Hyderabad

    PlantNura.

A company founded in Hyderabad to put the same methods in every scientist’s hands: taught live, built into no-code software, and delivered alongside breeding programmes — online everywhere, and in person in Hyderabad.

  4. KultivateEd DataViz Pro KropAnalytix BreedPilot BioMetriK Consulting BreedForward
    04 · Today

    One standard, three ways in.

KultivateEd’s live courses and Internship Academy. DataViz Pro, KropAnalytix and BreedPilot. BioMetriK Consulting and BreedForward. The same methods, whichever door you come through.

How we work

Four commitments. No exceptions.

They hold for every course we teach, every tool we ship and every programme we work with.

  1. 01

    Science-first.

Every course, tool and analysis rests on peer-reviewed, statistically rigorous methods — never shortcuts.

  2. 02

    Built by practitioners.

The people who design the software teach the courses and lead the engagements — led by a quantitative geneticist from IRRI’s Rice Breeding Innovation Platform.

  3. 03

    Skills that stay with you.

Courses and internships build every skill hands-on. The software shows its working. The consultancy explains every step and trains your team. You finish able to do it without us.

  4. 04

    Your data stays yours.

Encrypted in transit and at rest, access-controlled, never reused for another client, and deleted once the work is delivered.

The people in the room

Working scientists, not a content team.

The people who build the tools are the people who teach the courses and sit with your data.
